Netaji Subhas Training Institute of Agricultural Marketing, Baidyabati, Hooghly is a training Institute under West Bengal State Agricultural Marketing Board. This is the only Agricultural Marketing Institute in Eastern India affiliated by National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (NIAM), Jaypur, Rajasthan. This Institute conducts several trainings with the financial assistance of State Budget, RKVY fund and fund provided by NIAM. Till date the Institute has imparted training to more than 4700 number of trainees with an average of more than 700 trainees per year.Example of such trainings are -
Training programme to farm family youths: -The Institute is conducting one 90 days residential training program on ‘Entrepreneurship and Marketing Chain Development through Market-led Production and Post-Harvest Management’ especially for the Young Member of Farm Families selected from different blocks of the State. The programme is focused on Entrepreneurship and Skill Development in the sector of Agricultural Marketing.This year total 177 trainees have been covered under this training programme.

After successful completion of the above training programme, every group receives One Time Assistance (OTA) @ Rs 2,00,000/- (Two Lakhs only) from the State Government as a front-end subsidy in the official account of the group upon submission of a bankable project, duly approved by the bank, which is based on their Business Development Plan (BDP).

Training programme to SHG/ FPO/FPC on Post-Harvest Management: The Institute is also conducting 14 days residential training program on ‘‘Post Harvest Management, Preservation and Marketing of Fruits and Vegetables’’ for the SHGs, FPCs, FPOs, FIGs, Farmers’ Groups, farmers’ Groups enrolled with Sufal Bangla Project .

After successful completion of the training, the trainee groups can avail One Time Financial Assistance (OTA) of Rs. 1,50,000/- (rupees one lakh fifty thousand only) per batch as a front-end subsidy upon submission of a bankable project which is based on their BDP. This year total 168 trainees are covered under this training programme.

Other trainings- Training for the officials of Department / Board / RMC are also conducted by this Institute. The Trainings are mainly emphasizing on computer and office management .This year total 294 officials have been trained.

In the last one year, 18 new SHGs have been formed with the trainees representing Young Members of Farm Families, selected from 18 Blocks of 9 Districts of the State .During this period, a Maximum Credit Linkage of more than Rs 45 lakh happened in the State.

The groups are involved in the business of Betel leaf, Flower, Vegetables, Gobindobhog, Paddy, Fish, Rabbit, Bori and Daal and have already availed a total loan (in the form of overdraft) of more than 10 lakhs from their Banks and earned more than 15 lakhs from their business in a span of 09 months (From April’17 to December’17.

Apart from this, 13 trainees from the Binpur and Daspur (Jangal-Mahal blocks) of Paschim Medinipur are actively working in the procurement hub of Sufal Bangla project.
